On 29 September 2023, a meeting was held with local stakeholders in Son La Province as part of the Sustainable Animal Productivity for Improved Livelihoods, Nutrition and Gender Inclusion (SAPLING) project in Vietnam. The participants included representatives from Son La Province, SAPLING team, and various agricultural organizations. The meeting began with an overview of the SAPLING project's objectives, which focus on aligning its activities with existing programs in the region to maximize impact. The discussion highlighted the agricultural and livestock policies and programs in Son La, including resolutions and initiatives aimed at promoting livestock development, agricultural modernization, and poverty reduction. Partners from Son La shared valuable insights into the challenges faced by farmers in the region, such as limited resources and the need for better access to training and technology. The importance of expanding grass cultivation and food storage facilities for livestock during the winter months, promoting artificial insemination (AI) and improving herd health was emphasized. The SAPLING team emphasized the need for collaborative investments and partnerships with existing programs in Son La to overcome resource limitations and broaden the project's reach. They also discussed their communication campaign strategies and sought input on effective tools for implementation. In conclusion, the meeting provided a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas to enhance livestock development and agricultural practices in Son La Province. Coordination, evidence, and alignment with provincial policies were highlighted as essential for the project's success and sustainability. The timeline for project’s evidence submissions was also discussed to ensure timely integration into provincial programs.en_US
